The Chattered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, (CIPM) Rivers State branch, led by the Vice-Chairman, Mr. Dike Kennedy in the week under review paid a courtesy call on the PHCCIMA President, Chief Nabil Saleh and some members of Exco to seek for areas of synergy, and to partner with PHCCIMA to bridge the gap where people managers can meet and re-engineer themselves for business to thrive. Making introductions, Dike noted that, CIPM is the foremost people management and organizational development institute in Africa, respected across the world. He said the body promotes excellence and regulate the ecosystem for people management to deliver value for sustainable growth of individuals, organizations, and nations. According to him, "the delegation’s visit to PHCCIMA, which happens to be the first in their history is premised on three fronts; one is to congratulate and commend the present leadership led by Chief Nabil Saleh for their visionary leadership that has transformed and provided quality and impactful resource for PHCCIMA members and the business community; secondly to create a robust synergy with the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce that will be mutually beneficial to both organization, and help build capacities and inculcate the right principle required to provide value for businesses", he said. "Thirdly, to request PHCCIMA’s active participation and support for our upcoming South-South Zonal HR Conference to be hosted by CIPM, Rivers state branch on September 6th in Port Harcourt". According to him, this year’s conference provides an opportunity for value-adding introspection by HR Professionals and Executives, hence the theme “HR: Inside-Out”; and will feature well-researched paper presentations and workshops, where participants at the conference will have soul searching opportunities to appraise our professional readiness to deal with today’s people issues, share knowledge and insights on who/what the HR Professional truly is among others and offered to reduce participation fees for PHCCIMA members interested to attend In his remark, the PHCCIMA President welcomed the group and assured them of PHCCIMA’s preparedness to partner with them to provide value for businesses. He described HR and Personnel management as a key driver of every business because it helps us develop ourselves sustainably. He assured the delegation that PHCCIMA will participate; "as the leader of the OPS we will help publicize the conference in various platforms, our focus is to drive the process of industrialization in the state and ensure that businesses thrive, in this regard we CIPM as an invaluable partners that can help us jointly achieve this objective. PHCCIMA’s 2nd Deputy President, Dr. Chinyere Nwoga, in her remark noted that CIPM will always be family to her, having risen to the leadership at a point in time. "I appreciate this visit because both organizations can achieve a lot together with common values like building capacities, helping businesses thrive among others". Highlighting some of the potentials of PHCCIMA, she said, presently PHCCIMA has a one-stop-shop that houses a good number of the federal agencies and other business-oriented entities domiciled at the PHCCIMA Secretariat.“We also organize trade missions where we expose our businesses to international trade and collaborations, business linkages where we march small businesses with large scale enterprises, engage in policy advocacy, business advisory among others and I think the CIPM content of operations Is ideal and will make this visit mutually rewarding.
