PHCCIMA INAUGURATES TRADE GROUPS AND COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN

As part of efforts to achieve some of the lofty objectives of the Chief Nabil Saleh led administration, aimed at positioning PHCCIMA among the apex in the comity of chambers of commerce in the country, 12 Top CEO’s were inaugurated as Trade group chairmen and a further 8 as Committee chairmen in an event held at Menage Meeting Room in GRA Port Harcourt. Charging the newly inaugurated Chairmen the PHCCIMA President Chief Nabil Saleh urged them to see the opportunity as a privilege and call to service. He said the Trade groups and committees are the engine room of the chamber, and is quite significant to achieving some of its core objectives, hence, they must be at the top of their game to ensure their various groups are vibrant and result oriented, especially as it concerns, organizing workshops, identifying challenges, proferring solutions and working in synergy with the Exco to accomplish the joint aspiration of ensuring that member businesses thrive. He said the present administration has already hit the ground running by interfacing with over 19 different strategic economic groups and government agencies. “Presently we are taking this meeting to another level with our recent visit to some foreign embassies. “Already we have met with the US, French and will be meeting with China envoys and among others. All these are aimed at opening new frontiers for the benefit of our members. I want to especially express our gratitude to the body of past presidents for their unflinching support and encouragement. Let me once again use this medium to assure you, that this administration will not let you down”. The President also assured that the Present administration is not relenting in its drive to entrench an e-chamber of commerce, with the ongoing effort for a new electronic membership system, new PHCCIMA APP, staff electronic ID, operating a network-based and near paperless secretariat among others. Key highlights of the inaugural Council meeting include swearing in and signing of PHCCIMA oath of allegiance by the newly inaugurated administered by one of the past Presidents, Dr. Vincent Furo, after which the President formally constituted the Chamber Council to the admiration of all and sundry. The Past Presidents, Elder Dr. Hyke Ochia, Prince Billy Gillis Harry, Dr. Vincent Furo and Engr. Emeka Unachukwu were in attendance to encourage and advice the newly inaugurated, even as they assured the present administration of their continued support. Members of the Chamber Executive committee and Elected Council who are also members of the PHCCIMA Council were conspicuously present at the inaugural Council meeting.
